November outing at the Lexington Y
Our plan was to go to camp at James Island County Park and see the lights as we have done the last couple of years, but... With a rainy and windy weather forecast for the weekend, we bailed on that plan and spent a night at the Lexington Y in the cabins. We made spaghetti Saturday night and shot archery on Sunday.

Edisto Outing
We camped at Edisto State Park, explored Botany Bay, and got blown away in the rain!

Devil's Fork
We camped at Devil's Fork State Park on the shores of Lake Jocassee in upstate SC. After a 45 minute drive in which I was stuck in the backseat of a packed car with two very loud and hyper boys, we hiked to an overlook for Lower Whitewater Falls Saturday morning. There was a great view on the falls but some people were disapointed at how far away the falls were. We got rained on heavily after lunch when we were ready to go swimming and paddling - the lake needed it as it was 27' low. When we finally got to go, the dads played "throw around a heavy soggy football"and the kids made mud pits (boys) for people to fall in (mostly girls) or swam. After a dinner of burgers we made Dough Boys around the campfire.
Apparently I was the only one to sleep through the large thunderstorm that was right on top of us on the night before we left. After breakfast folks began breaking down camp and heading home. Some of us stopped at the Duke Power World of Energy next to Oconee Nuclear Station on Lake Keowee. The museum part was mostly a a long walk through a loop that had cool stuff on the walls. (I walked through four times!) Our next stop was Columbo's Pizza in Clemson and the Student Union for ice cream. But most of us were too full for the ice cream. :-)
