Principles

Y-Trail Program is a continuation of the Indian Guide and Princess Programs. All Guide and Princess tribes may enroll in the Trailblazer program at the beginning of their fourth year (or individually at 9 years of age). Your tribe may continue in the program as long as you like. Interested participants, 9 years or older, can begin with the Trailblazer program also. Folks in the program experience the fun and excitement of exploring new worlds of interest in a spirit of adventure regardless.

A. Purpose

The purpose of the Y-Trail Program is to foster a healthy relationship between parent and child built on trust, companionship, understanding, and communication.

B. Pledge

“As a Y-Trailblazer, my pledge is to strengthen the bonds of companionship with my (father/mother/son/daughter) as we explore our environment, our community, and our lives together, seeking to grow in spiritual, mental, and physical fitness, and in service to others.”

C. The Aims

1. To strengthen the bonds of companionship with my (father/mother/son/daughter).
2. To increase in fitness, physical skills, and body development.
3. To grow in wisdom, intellectual curiosity, and independence.
4. To develop reverence for the Creator, spiritual understanding, and faith for daily living.
5. To serve others, young and old, who are in need, sick, or lonely.
6. To gain in appreciation, love, and support of my family.

D. Slogan

“Parent and child, blazing new trails together”

E. Emblem

The Y-Trail Program emblem uses the colors red, silver, and yellow to denote the warm understanding, vital sharing, and deep loyalty in the father/child relationship. The compass with the Y emblem at its center signifies the ideas and aims of the “Four Trails” toward which the Dad/Child companionship experience is directed: Spiritual Growth, Wisdom, Physical Health, and Service. The border enveloping the compass portrays the power and bonds of family support that strengthen its individual members
